WHERE IT STARTED

MW Power Volleyball was founded in 2016 as OMG Volleyball Club by former college volleyball All-American Erica Smith and husband Jason Smith. Watching volleyball grow within the state of MN, Erica and Jason felt there was a need for a similar club structure in Central MN, focusing on specific training techniques and a higher standard of coaching.

Over the years of coaching JO volleyball, doing college recruiting, and personal training, Erica and Jason decided to continue their passion for sports and experience volleyball from another angle. While growing OMG, Erica took over as the Head Volleyball Coach at Ridgewater College, where she trained and developed her players to compete at a higher level. With the growth of OMG over the years, Jason now runs the club full-time while Erica maintains her position as HC at Ridgewater and assists in directing for OMG.

OMG was created with the idea that learning the fundamental skills of volleyball at a young age can have an immensely positive effect on the growing athletes in our community. However, these skills must be taught the correct way in an environment that is conducive to experiencing discipline, success, and enjoyment.

As OMG, Erica and Jason have had the opportunity to work with some great coaches, amazing athletes, and their families. While OMG is moving in a new direction, our commitment and intention is to continually mentor and help our athlete on and off the court as they journey through life.

Thank you to all of our past and present players -- you all have given our OMG Family a deep meaning to always appreciate!

WHERE WE'RE GOING

Midwest Power (MWP) Volleyball is the rebirth of our program. As a staff, we are continually challenge ourselves to expand our knowledge and experiences, as we ask the same of our players. This will continue to help our coaches and players achieve their goals at the highest level. We will provide the highest quality volleyball training for all MW Power athletes. We aim to develop a better sense of community amongst players, parents, and coaches. Our practice structure is conducive to fostering this environment, as multiple teams practice together.

While a name change provides a new identity for our athletes and our staff -- it reaches beyond that initial purpose. We hope to bring better quality training to the Central MN communities that will not only help grow the game, but will also provide more opportunities at the high school and collegiate level. Moving forward our goal is to expand playing options so that kids of all ages can find opportunity to grow in volleyball through MW Power, starting from age 6 all the way to 18. We will also be bringing in new summer programs that extend from 1st - 12th grade which will allow us to spread our message to more athletes and families that have not yet experienced the benefits of club volleyball. We believe this will help grow the game in a positive way in more Central MN communities and surrounding areas.

Our commitment as a staff is what sets us apart and we want to continually foster growth and learning within our own program. New avenues of education and training will be introduced at all levels, which will not only help our coaches, but ultimately every player they come in contact with.
